I've always wondered, after the KC-135R/Ts and the various RC-135 variants, why the USAF has never re-engined the E-3B/C fleet, espically as the UK and the French have operated CFM-56 engined E-3s from the outset. I don't doubt the fleet is heavily tasked so I would have thought it would have been worthwhile. This is the first time I have caught a USAF E-3 on a DSLR, and if he'd have been on time I would have missed him, as he was over six hours late!
