Arriving on a Sunday evening at the old, disused airfield at Watton, in Norfolk. This RAF Chinook has been on exercise from Wattisham during the previous week, mainly in the STANTA battle training area in which Watton is situated. 611 Volunteer Gliding School operate Viking gliders from here in a purpose built hangar, as one of a network of RAF gliding schools around the country, mainly to give cadets a introduction into aviation. A relative of mine is the schools OC and I was invited along for a half hour ride with the schools instructors and the local ATC cadets. Note this Chinook is carrying it's war fit of miniguns and GPMG's.
