The Elmendorf based C-17 flew a very high visual approach onto runway 29 at Mildenhall this morning - the highest I've ever seen by any type and landed well down the runway, although stopping quickly is hardly a problem for a Globemaster! The crew had requested a overhead visual run in and break and were clearly unaware of Mildenhall's strict noise abatement rules on sundays - only straight in and full stop landings are allowed and may have been caught unawares. They then further upset Mildenhall ATC by taking the wrong runway turn off!
