The angle is misleading on this shot. It gives the impression it's a standard approach shot but is actually taken directly overhead as the BBMF Hurricane banks sharply over the 'mound' for a very short approach. The Hurricane (along with the Lancaster) had gone unserviceable the previous weekend at Southend airport during their annual seafront show and was only now returning to Coningsby. Sliding the canopy back on a hot day is one advantage the Hurricane has over modern types!
