The same day as the performance at the Marham families day, the Dutch Air Force F-16 also performed at the Lowestoft Sea Front festival not that far away. I was there on the second day and wondered if the flares would be allowed over the sea, much to my surprise, they were. I even missed it with the camera the first time. I do believe though that he did not use the flares on the thursday. This whole business of flare use by display aircraft in the UK is ludicrous, as until a few years ago they were frequently used by many solo displays and the whole Swiss display team even finished their display with them. The flares are specially designed for display use and I don't believe that the ground in the UK is more likely to burn than any other country...
